By September 11, 1876 in England for the first time were conducted by a races of the greyhounds for artificial hare. Distinguish separate kinds of a races " for mechanical hare ". Some of them are conducted in special stadiums else - on open air.

For the large greyhounds the distance constitutes 480 - 700 meters, for whippets - 450 meters, for italian levrets - 350 meters. The best results exhibited by the greyhounds on various distances in USA are given in the table.

The greyhound is the recognized leader on rate of a races in the world of overland mammals. The maximal rate, which it can develop exceeds 70 kms / hours. Certainly, the records in rate are given uneasily, but they and well are paid. For example, the champion P's Rambling was sold in 1986 for 500.000 $, and Mo Kick, prevailled for the career 109 races has earned to the owners in total 314.067 $.

Races are conducted in Russia too, but certainly not at such level as in USA and Europe. At us it is simple an entertainment of fans (amateurs), without any commercial interest. The Russian association of the fans(amateurs) races of the greyhounds (RALBB) annually conducts in Moscow of competition, about which it is possible to esteem on pages of results of their conducting (1997, 1998, 1999). In Rostov-on-Don the group of the enthusiasts some years conducted trainings the afgans, greyhounds on running for lure coursing on a urban hippodrome. But the material difficulties have prevented to continue them in 1998.

It is possible, when in Russia the economy will be adjusted and at average citizen the possibility will appear to think not only about daily bread, but also about entertainments, will appear present racetracks in Russia too. Understandably, it is much cheaper in the contents, than hippodrome, and totalizator at them identical.
